Message Based Services

Integration is crucial; the Klopotek software features the relevant technologies for harmonizing processes: APIs, flatfile interfaces and BUS technologies for event-triggered and real-time data exchange.

However, immediate, event-based exchanges of data are much more suitable for many business processes.

When a customer subscribes to an electronic journal for example, they want to receive immediate access to the content they have purchased. With Klopotek Message Based Services, it is easy to implement such scenarios. When the subscription is created, the Klopotek software immediately generates an electronic message on the basis of this event. The message is then sent to the portal instructing it to authorize access for the customer.

With Message Based Services, the Klopotek software can both inform other systems of relevant changes in data and receive data from other systems – all in real-time.

Integrations are easier and more cost-effective because there are no delays.

Integrated business processes across multiple systems become more elegant or are made possible for the first time.

The quality of data improves.

Unique features

  • Full support for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Based on open Java Metadata Interface (JMI) standards
  • Comprehensive documentation provided for all Message Based Services
  • Message queues for exchanging messages can be run directly on Klopotek's JBoss-based Web Application Server (WAS) without the need for further infrastructure
  • Easy, automated data management
  • Klopotek's Web Application Server (WAS) is a fully-fledged application and integration server
  • Message Based Services are compatible with and can be integrated into all popular Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) infrastructures and all external servers which support the open MBS standard

Availability

  • Message Based Services are widely used and are constantly being enhanced.
  • This feature works across the entire Klopotek system – in every module, in every form and with every product.

Web Services

Web Services are functions in the Klopotek publishing software which can be called by external software. With Web Services, the Klopotek software can be integrated into publishers' websites and other systems in real-time.

  • Web shops can identify and create customers and orders in the Klopotek system
  • Publishers' portals for authors can integrate royalty documents and statements
  • Publishers' websites can show customers the status of their order in the Klopotek software
  • Customers know their some of data far better than you. Why shouldn't they edit their addresses and specify their delivery and invoice addresses themselves?

With Web Services, the power of the Klopotek software is available to other systems and other user interfaces. Web shops can, for example, call on Klopotek's order processing power without having to recreate those functions. Subscriptions can be ordered directly – just like one-off products – discounts and shipping costs can be determined and, finally, a Klopotek Web Service calculates the taxes – even for global business.

  • The quality of data improves.
  • Back-office staff are freed from the burden of data maintenance.
  • Errors are avoided because central functions like determining discounts and shipping costs no longer diverge.
  • Data exchange with online portals for all business processes
  • Total IT costs sink: valuable functions such as access to royalty documents no longer have to be programmed several times. Programs do not need to be developed to transport the documents back and forth.

Unique features

  • Web Services are all documented as APIs

  • Web Services are compatible with and can be integrated into all popular Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) infrastructures
  • Product metadata can be accessed as XML, and can be rendered directly into marketing material, catalogs, or data feeds

Multi-Location, Multi-Currency, Multi-Language

If a company operates internationally, the users who work with the Klopotek software may not all speak the same language. They also need to communicate with external business partners in different languages. However, if the company employs a centrally installed system with a central database, every user must work with the same data set and the same system configuration.

With the 'Multi-LCL (Language, Currency, and Location)' license, it is possible to support

  • the metadata (entries from the data types, names of roles and classification categories),
  • the names of boxes, options, tabs and modules in the user interface and
  • the system messages in a language which suits the respective user.

With the 'Multi LCL (Language, Currency, and Location)' license, the standard royalty statement can be output in the language of the external recipient (royalty recipient). It takes into account variations in regional formats for

  • dates
  • currency
  • the character used to separate whole numbers from decimals and
  • the character used to group thousands, millions, etc.

In addition, the user can create mass (e-)mailings in the appropriate languages for different external recipients (business partner, author, supplier, licensee, etc.)

With the 'Multi LCL (Language, Currency, and Location)' license, your system can be used concurrently in different locations and in different languages for user and recipient, although the same metadata is being worked on.

Configurable User Interface

You can configure the user interface according to your terminology, layout and workflows. With the configurable User Interface, you can change, move, hide and rename fields in every form. This is particularly useful, if the need to change our standard user interface is considerable, for example:

  • if workflows are specific and some users only need to see limited parts of forms / a limited number of forms
  • in territories, if regional specifics are unnecessary
  • if you need forms which are simpler, less dense, and thus more user-friendly in specific contexts
  • in non publishing businesses such as music or broadcasting, where the terminology is different
  • in non publishing businesses, if typical publishing terms in forms are unwanted and confusing

Unique features

  • Your administrator configures the user interface to the needs of your users by changing the attributes of fields; particularly by moving, hiding or renaming a field, or changing the layout – e.g. color
  • Store these configurations and assign them to individual users or user groups
  • No programming, no software changes, no compiling, no roll-out. Configure the running system.
  • As opposed to “customization” (by on site modification of forms or software source code), which leads to problems when upgrading later, our unique configuration approach survives upgrades, because the configuration is interpreted at run time and forms adjust at run time.

Availability

  • Available in V 10.0 and all versions > V 10.0 (based on the new GUI)
  • This feature works across the entire Klopotek system – in every module, in every form and with every product
