Why STREAM for TEP now?

Creating STREAM for TEP is a logical step in our Technology Transition from our Classic Line solution to intuitive software support in the Cloud. Having completed the CRR (Contracts, Rights, Royalties) and CRM elements in 2018, this is the next important one. O2C – Order to Cash – is to follow.

Some elements of TEP (such as Early Title Manager or Classification Manager) were already brought to market as STREAM apps a while ago, due to strong customer and market demand. But now, it is time to move all central TEP processes to the STREAM platform.

What’s so special about STREAM for TEP?
Why does it matter to modern publishing?

STREAM for TEP makes all essential business processes in this field (i.e. all product-related tasks – title management, editorial work, planning, and production) available to publishers as business- and workflow-driven processes providing a modern user interface that is responsive, intuitive, flexible and configurable.

Putting you in the driver’s seat

It’s the individual publisher who can make the decisions: STREAM for TEP will support you in organizing your title management processes, as it offers configurable workflow steps. Users can purely focus on what is required (and thus save time and be more productive), as data and functionality that is not required is not included in the individual workflow.

The STREAM apps Product 360° and Product Quality Manager provide a quick and focused overview of data. Both apps are highly configurable; every individual user will see the exact product information they need to see.  

Product 360° displays all relevant product data (sales, marketing, production, metadata, version and edition families, etc.) in a 360° view, so it is suitable for all employees at a publisher in all departments dealing with titles some way.

If Product 360° is extended with Product Quality Manager, people in publishing can drill down on metadata quality and ensure that all market rules and standards are taken care of, this ensuring excellent metadata quality when a product is sent/submitted to the various market channels.

With this app, we’re re-imagining the traditional workflow for title management: A process-driven app, Title Metadata Editor offers various scenarios, so editors can completely focus on the attributes they need at the very moment for a title that’s being worked on.

Scenario Manager enables publishers to create their own scenarios for title management. All workflow steps and UI elements are fully customizable.

Using Title Metadata Editor (plus Scenario Manager) will help to reduce information overload in title management and to focus on the metadata that is relevant. It will improve both the quality and efficiency when creating and managing title information.



How does STREAM for TEP work for books?
And for journals?

STREAM for TEP covers both managing books and journals for the entire product life cycle. In fact, STREAM for TEP is suitable for all types of publishing products: print-based or electronic, in all variants of formats.

Speaking about books / one-off products, the entire process from the ideation phase to the long tail phase is covered:

  • Completing contract(s) with author(s), creating and working on an idea, doing a first calculation, getting approval for publication
  • Working on the product, managing metadata, handling production processes including costing, ordering purchases and analyzing costs
  • It is possible to work on the IP level
  • Creating new products by reusing existing components
  • Providing the information on the published product to the market; all related quality processes can be managed
  • Making reprint/republication decisions and handling related production processes

This is why it won’t be:

We are happy to be able to confirm that several of our existing clients are in the process of switching from our Classic Line to STREAM for CRR this year, but there are also new customers that have opted for STREAM for CRR (in the areas of Education and Trade publishing, large companies and small publishers). 

Several of our existing customers have stated that the transition process from the Classic Line to STREAM is very smooth and allows a department-oriented transition, i.e. a step-by-step process instead of a ‘big bang’ migration which would be considered as risky.

The same is the case for switching to STREAM for TEP: running the Classic Line and the STREAM web apps in parallel is no problem: Both systems use the same business rules, the same database, and the same data model.
